Play Experience: Cycle fit classes ( aka Spin) 🤣

Motivation for this experience: I realise that on the homepage I wrote that I knew things weren’t good with me, but I did nothing but go to the GP.  I realise that’s not strictly true because I also joined the gym! My only motivation for this was my friend’s encouragement and the need to do anything to try and improve my mental health and fitness. I had always, ALWAYS maintained that I hated exercise and I HATED the gym. Then I found cyclefit! Much like childbirth, it’s at the point at which you think you’re going to die that it’s all worth it. It was on those days I dragged myself to cyclefit knowing my capacity was around a 3 and somewhere in the midst of the fastest, most brutal spin when the music was pumping and the lights were flashing and my heart felt like it could burst through my chest cavity that I’d realise I felt a 5! It’s maybe worth noting that I loved clubbing in my youth and the odd occasion I still get to and Cycle fit has a bit of clubbing about it! And so I’ve kept going 2 or 3 times a week.

I guess this correlates with carer capacity scale as 6 to 10 or 60 to 100%. I definitely feel more able to cope during and after a class than I do before it. The buzz can be relatively shortlived, but I do find I sleep better after a class which also benefits my overall wellbeing.

Overall review; Cycle fit is right for me, which doesn’t mean it’s right for everyone. I like my own space. I like fast and loud and flashing. I like being so in the moment I can’t think of another thing. I needed something that maximised my fitness in the shortest possible time. This class is 30 mins, I can leave at 7 and be back by 8. B can cope with that. The wider household can hold the fort for that. I do believe exercise is for everyone, just find your own ‘spin’ on it 😘
